In April 1992, a young man from an average family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. The young man’s name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. He gave up all his money to charity, ditched his car and most of his belongings, burned all the cash in his wallet, and developed a new life for himself. Chris was never an ignorant person. He was simply very self-reliable and liked to work hard to achieve his goal and he was also very appreciative and hates being a show-off. Chris wanted to venture out into the wild to live life to the fullest and to see the good experiences and memories it holds out there and to also run away because his parents never understood his actions and what he wanted in life. Chris was always hard working and into himself and avoided being helped out by his parents or anyone. Chris always tried to avoid his parents by telling them not to pay for his law school. He always told them that he had the greatest car in the world and that he doesn’t need a new one. Chris hated being a show-off and never liked to have too much attention from others. For example’…They will think they have bought me respect'(Krakauer 21). Chris means that he doesn’t want his parents to make him look respectful. Chris ventured into the wild because his parents never understood his purpose of living. For example ‘…came into this world with unusual gifts'(Krakauer 106). Chris’s parents didn’t know what their son valued as a gift. Chris’s parents always agreed to disagree with their son which made them too blind to realize what he always wanted in life.

When Chris McCandless realized that the sky has no limit and he can fly high he left his parents who never understood him and started a new life. When people say that Chris’s arrogance led to his death they are wrong because Chris’s death was an accident caused by him eating wild potato seeds which contained ODAP a chemical that made him even more malnourished and caused his death. According to the author Jon Krakauer, he is the one who found out that Chris McCandless death was an accident by testing the wild potato seeds that Chris ate at a lab with his well-known partner Arnold Hamilton. Krakauer wanted to prove to the people that Chris’s death was just a tragic accident that no one should experience at all. He wanted to know the way Chris died so that people could stop judging the things he did.

Chris was never uneducated or arrogant. He just wanted to live out in the real world. Chris McCandless was never a psycho or an arrogant maniac. He just wanted to live his life without anyone telling him what to do with it and that is why he ran away from his parents because they wanted him to do stuff that he never wanted to do.

Chris McCandless is a brave young man who sacrificed a lot to get what he wanted and he shouldn’t be criticized by spoiled people who get what they want in life without working for it. Chris McCandless might have died but he influenced people to go outside and live their lives and to never stay home all the time and to work hard to achieve your dreams this is logical because the people who criticize him are just people who only value money and greed in their life. Everyone should with Chris McCandless’s decision and stand on Chris’s side because he is telling us to not be greedy to appreciate what we have. After all, we will have more in the future if we work hard and just live every day until our end.
