Death Penalty Should Be Allowed Across The Country
How would you feel if your mother or father was slaughtered slowly and painfully, should the person that did this to them still have the opportunity to live? I believe the death penalty should be legal throughout the entire nation. There are many reasons for why I believe the death penalty should be legalized in all states, which includes deterrence, retribution, and morality. Also, because opposing arguments do not hold up their side of the argument at all. I will go against the ideas that the death penalty is unconstitutional and wrong because some deserve this punishment. The only alternative to the death penalty, is life imprisonment, life imprisonment is not a punishment enough for taking the life of some innocent person or people. Murder goes against the morality of all humanity, and the death penalty should be used in every state as punishment to bring back the morality and balance of humankind. On March 1st 2019 we will march on Washington to the top of capitol hill where the capitol building lies to protest for legalization of the death penalty across the entire nation.
Giving up on the death penalty would mean giving up on justice for crime victims and their families. The prisoners currently on death row in California have murdered more than 1,000 people. Of those, 229 were children, 43 were police officers, and 294 of the victims were sexually assaulted and tortured. Criminals do not die by the hands of the law. They die by the hands of other men ” (George Bernard Shaw). Having a operational death penalty law will help us protect the entire public from society’s most horrible criminals and bring some types of remorse to the families whose loved ones were taken from them. The death penalty is reserved for the most horrible crimes, such as murder. Adding, why should a murderer be allowed to live the rest of their lives in somewhat comfort, paid for by the public? Moreover, to, clothe, house and feed them for the rest of their lives at taxpayer expense makes a complete mockery of all justice. These horrible criminals gave up their right to live when they took the life of another person, justice can only be served by their lawful execution.
Death penalty is the ultimate warning as well. If people know that murder or other horrible crimes can lead them to death, they are much less likely to commit crimes knowing it can lead to that punishment. Texas executed 40 people in 2000, but only seven in 2016 and 2017. The main reason was the drop in America’s murder rate, from 10.2 of every 100,000 people in 1980 to 4.5 in 2014. Adding, these statistics show how the death penalty is positively affecting the public making murder rate decrease due to the scare of knowing they could be killed themselves for committing such a horrible crime. Also, another valid argument that many make against the death penalty and why it should be illegal is the price of it, it is about 30,000 less expensive to house and inmate for 40 years then death penalty but in the long run executing someone who deserves it instead of housing them will later benefit our dollars because an overall life sentence is average 5,000 more expensive than a death penalty.
Imagine if one of your family members was kidnapped and then later murdered, it seems like it could never happen, but it does. A man by the name of Carl Austin Hall kidnapped 6 year old boy Bobby Greenlease demanding ransom from his multi millionaire dad. Mr. Greenlease then gave the ransom of 5.6 million dollars for his son back but he never got him back. Carl Austin the kidnapper later fled with the son and later killed him burying him in the backyard of his hideout. Adding, when police found him in his hideout he was caught and Bobby’s body was found dead on arrival but it wasn’t only Bobby’s body found, they as well found multiple young girls murdered in his basement. But some may say he doesn’t deserve the death penalty even though he took the life of 3 young children stealing from them any chance at ever growing up what do you thing?. This man deserved the death penalty, he was executed by gas chamber a few months later. He’s Not the only one who has commited crimes like this many people have. The death penalty needs to be legal in all states so when things like that happen in the currently illegal states they can get what they deserve.
The death penalty is a law that needs to be put into action across the entire nation to help unify our country as a whole to punish the people that deserve death for the gruesome actions they have committed. Moreover a statement made by our president Donald Trump quotes; “’The death penalty. It should be brought back and it should be brought back strong… They say it’s not a deterrent. Well, you know what, maybe it’s not a deterrent but the two men convicted of killing two police officers in Hattiesburg, Mississippi will not do any more killing. That’s for sure.’ Overall, Using the death penalty won’t only give these horrible criminals what they deserve but will help stop future crimes since people will have the fear of knowing they could be executed for their actions and as well give some of the security and remorse families deserve. We will work with our rights to enact the law of legalising the death Penalty! Criminals do not die by the hands of the law.
