“He never slept in a better bed”, stated Richard Connell in the novel “The Most Dangerous Game”. General Zaroff is the antagonist. He tries to kill the protagonist, Rainsford. He owns a private island called Ship trap. General Zaroff’s island is known for trapping ships and trapping people in the island. In the story of “The Most Dangerous Game”, general Zaroff shows that he is insane, determined, and invincible.
General Zaroff was an evil man. He didn’t care if he murdered someone. He was a hunter that thought hunting animals was getting too easy. He didn’t want to hunt animals anymore, he wanted to hunt people. In the text of the story “The Most Dangerous Game”, it states” If I wish to hunt, why should I not hunt the scum of the Earth-sailors from tramp ships-lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels.” This shows that General Zaroff is insane because nice people wouldn’t kill anybody. In conclusion, General Zaroff didn’t have much respect towards people, he was insane and evil.
Furthermore, General Zaroff was a determined man. He was determined to trap ships on his island. He was determined to trap people on his island to hunt people. Sometimes an angry god of high seas sends them to me.” This shows that General Zaroff’s island is known for trapping ships and killing people. In conclusion, General Zaroff doesn’t like to hunt animals anymore, he likes to trap ships to find people to hunt.
General Zaroff is invincible. He thinks that he could do whatever he wants. He also doesn’t think that he could die. In the text of the “Most Dangerous Game” it states “To date I have not lost, he said. Then he added hastily: I don’t wish you to think me a braggart, Mr.Rainsford. Many of them afford only the most elementary sort of problem.
In conclusion, General Zaroff is an evil, determined, and invincible man. He does not care if he murdered someone. General Zaroff displays his determination by, trapping ships and hunting people on his island. He showed that he was an invincible man because he thought that nobody can kill him. After he was done trying to hunt Rainsford, Rainsford killed General Zaroff.
