It is said that ‘Health is wealth’. Additionally it also said that sound body is sound mind. But nowadays, our lifestyle has been changed drastically that creates an adverse effect on our health. Due to the technological transformation, our lifestyle has been changing rapidly. Our childhood habits were different than today. Today, we are passing a busy and speedy life almost every single day. Therefore, we are following an unhealthy lifestyle that creates negative impact on health. According to a study of WHO, 60% of related factors to individual health and quality of life are correlated to lifestyle (Ziglio et al., 2004). It seems that nowadays, millions of people are following unhealthy lifestyle in their everyday life. Thus, they are welcoming many serious diseases like metabolic disease, join a skeletal problems, cardiovascular disease, hypertensions, overweight, violence and so on. So, for our own sake it is our duty and responsibility to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

What is Lifestyle?

The term lifestyle refers to our daily routine work that evolves from early morning to the mid night. Lifestyle a way that it is used by people, groups of nations and is formed in specific geographical economic political, cultural and religious text. That means the way we eat, perform our daily activities, take rest, hang out with our friends, behave with others, think, drive vehicles, sleep is all are considered to lifestyle. In short the way we carry out our routine work and commitments and the total living style, etc. are all included in the term ‘lifestyle’. Lifestyle is the way that a person lives. It reflects our behavior attitude, culture and personality. Indeed our daily routine work depends on the various environmental factors namely familial, social, political, economical, religious and so many. And, we are consciously or unconsciously accepting these. In our day-to-day busy life we just confined ourselves within four walls. We don’t have enough time to communicate with others, to share our emotions. We even hardly find time to pay attention to our health. These all are occurring due to adopting fast and competitive lifestyle.

There is no magic pills that can recover our bad health. Doing regular physical exercise and maintaining healthy lifestyle only can help to ensure a sound body. Adopting healthy lifestyle, will feel us well and, help to gather a lot of experiences. In fact, it will give us extra stamina to live more years than any other people.

If you a have a chance of chronic disease or already affected with it, then you must change our lifestyle into positive one. Poor lifestyles like poor diet, lack of exercises and chronic stress are the key contributors to the development to prevent preventable chronic diseases. On the contrary, the effects of eating right and exercise improves the strength of our immune system and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, hypertension and, several types of cancer. According to the study of American heart association, a person should at least 150 minutes do physical exercise; it may be either walking or riding a bicycle. So regular physical activity and proper and healthy diet can prevent you combating chronic disease and, from some other fatal diseases like stroke, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, etc.

If we want to make our body fit and healthy, we must take food that contains vitamins and nutrients. We can find the most of the nutrients and vitamins are in the fresh fruits and vegetables. Nutrient-rich foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, lean meats and fish, low-fat dairy foods, and unsaturated fats. These will help us to improve our energy also help us to reduce our cholesterol and blood sugar. Along with taking diet foods. we also have to do regular physical exercise. And, we must avoid processed and refined foods that cause our blood sugar to spike and then drop, leaving you feeling fatigued.

Losing weight just not only make us happy but also give us a nice shape or appearance before others. Moreover, it prevents from other chronic diseases such as diabetes, gallstones, hypertension, heart disease, stroke and several types of cancer. A study came from University of Maryland medical center that people are not only eating larger amounts of food than they did 20 years ago, but they are also replacing natural and home-cooked foods with processed and fast foods 3 5. Consuming various type of processed foods will typically lead our health to negatively. Taking healthy foods as per daily basis with moderate physical exercises, can help us to improve our cardiovascular health, boost immune system, and it also will increase energy level. Eating a balanced diet can also help control our weight.

A study says that diet, exercise, and sleep can alter our brain health and mental functions. Moderate exercise like walking is beneficial for our brain. It increases blood circulation and the amount of oxygen and glucose that reaches our brain, helps to think more clearly. Other benefits of exercise is it boosts endorphins, which can reduce feelings of stress. Healthful foods which have Omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon and walnuts, help improve learning and memory and help fight against depression and mood disorders. And, other things we have to do that is have a sound sleep. Scientist say that to maintain a healthy lifestyle we have to sleep at least eight hours. Lack of proper sleep creates a negative impact on our health and mind. Poor sleep is responsible for high blood pressure, heart disease and, lowers our life expectancy. Go to bed and wake up at the same time regularly. Maintain room temperature moderate, clean room properly, turn off lights, even don’t look at the screen of cell phone. By doing these we may improve our healthy lifestyle that ultimately will help to our brain work nicely.

It is important for the body to protect from diseases and germs. Here our immune system works to protect our body against disease and illness by helping our cells destroy viruses and germs. We can boost up our immune system by taking healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and, yogurt. These foods are naturally nutrient-dense that help in immune system function. Additionally, we also can take black or green tea to enhance our body’s immune system.

Maintaining healthy lifestyle massively helps to prevent premature death. According to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people who maintain healthy lifestyle get more benefits than others for example they are out of a premature death 66 percent, 65 percent from cardiovascular disease and 57 percent from other diseases. So these are the benefits pour a maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle factors like consumption of limited alcohol, avoiding tobacco, improved nutrition, and regular physical activity will ensure additional life span. And we also can take fresh breathing in the early in the morning or in the evening and also try to take organic foods. These all will help to keep our skin glow and kill our age.

Doing physical exercise regularly makes our body stronger and improves its endurance. Physical activity also gives our muscles power and provides oxygen efficiently. If we getting trouble to do workout we at least drink a cup of water when we get up early in the morning. And, if we have a lack of strength and endurance, then we may do physical activity and change unhealthy lifestyle.

Our mood is a reflection of our lifestyle. Our lifestyle shows our mood whether it is good or bad. This emotional boost can help our outlook about our appearance and improve our self-confidence. By limiting drinking alcohol, we may promote a better mood. Consuming alcohol hinders our brain activity and can cause anxiety, depression, and, often, aggression. Additionally, watching or reading obscene films or books can disrupt bran activity and hamper thinking power positively. To make our mood better, we must do more and more exercises and do involve in positive activities like joining volunteering activities, attending a movie, attending communal activities and so on. This way we just not only will be fit physically, but also psychologically.

By doing physical activities we not only protect ourselves from the diseases but also give out a new appearance. Staying hydrated and getting adequate sleep can reduce the appearance of under-eye bags. Also limiting alcohol intake reduces its aging effects on our skin and eyes, as does avoiding tobacco. Taking proper nutritious foods are essential for healthy and lustrous hair, bright eyes, taught skin, and an overall glow.

By doing small physical activity we can reduce stress. In this modern days, we spend very busy life. Therefore, a lot of psychological problems arise in our mind. So, it is necessary for us to reduce the stress. we can reduce stress in different ways, for example we can go for a yoga, listen relaxation music, do meditation, do painting or gardening, rear up pet, can spend time with family members and connected with others. Research indicates that eating a nutrient-rich diet help in a large extent to reduce depression and anxiety levels. In addition, these foods can decrease the likelihood of bipolar episodes as well as decrease the negative symptoms associated with ADHD. Healthy lifestyle helps us to handle problems efficiently. All those. When we face any problems our organs make us aware that what should we do in that situation.

Living a healthy lifestyle can increase our self-confidence and self-worth in a number of ways. It’s make a great change in our physical appearance, and it keeps us confident and improve our self-esteem. That means, when maintain a healthy lifestyle in routine wise, for instances, having a sound sleep, eating healthy foods, spending time with family and friends or getting connected socially, we feel a different feelings that give us pleasure and keep our mind cool and make us more happy simultaneously increase our self-esteem.

Doing physical exercise and eating nutrient-rich food improves brain function and memory, and can help defend against cognitive decline. Study shows that eating nutritious food supports healthy brain activity, which decreases the likelihood of brain dysfunction and neurodegeneration. We can improve our cognitive skills by engaging ourselves in playing board games, puzzles or any sort of sport activity watching good movies or dramas stimulate our brain.

How unhealthy lifestyle impacts negatively on health? While good lifestyle gives us a feel of heaven whereas a bad lifestyle slowly crushes our body from within. A recent study says that there are various negative effects of unhealthy food, lack of exercise, smoking, and consumption of excessive alcohol on personal and public health. Furthermore, less outdoor activity and excessive use of mobiles, laptops, watching TV long hours invite serious physical and mental diseases particularly obesity problem are escalating drastically.

Unhealthy lifestyle will force you to live in an isolated world. Due to unhealthy lifestyle many of our family and friends may discontinue relationship with you. Our tiredness or physical or mental weakness may influence negatively on our personal or professional life.

From the above discussion, we can say that to maintain a healthy lifestyle is inevitable for us since gradually we are becoming lazy, busy and stressful. There are ample benefits of healthy lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle increases our image in social and professional level and, prevents us from many fatal diseases. Although it’s not so easy to change the bad habits that we grow up through long time. But, we can do it by a regular process. Our perseverance and holistic effort can make it possible. If we vigorously follow the daily routine, we very soon will see the outcomes of healthy benefits. Furthermore, we have to be aware of negative consequences of unhealthy lifestyle.
