”Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do, but because of who you are” said Mother Teresa. This quote describes the compassionate woman who devoted her whole life into helping the poor, homeless, abandoned children and those who were in need of help. Mother Teresa was a hardworking and dedicated human who put others before herself.
According to Britanicca (2019) Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu or also known as mother Teresa was born on august 27, 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia. Mother Teresa’s father died when she was eight and was raised by a single mother. She grew up in the Roman Catholic Church and decided to devote her life to God. Mother Teresa entered a catholic religious institution by the age of 18 with sisters serving in India. She taught at a catholic school in Calcutta. Mother Teresa could have stayed there and continued teaching, however the poverty, the suffering, the hunger that was around her in the slums of India made her caught a strong feeling outside of the school walls. This made mother Teresa to devote herself into helping the poor, and the homeless.
According to the Nobel Prize (2020) in 1931, she took her first vows as a nun and was named mother Teresa. A call by God was made to Mother Teresa for her to go and give help the poor people in India. She therefore decided to receive some medical training and help the sick and those who were in need. Even though she had no one to support her, she did all she could to feed and help whose who are suffering with poverty and hunger. She herself was constantly hungry and even had to beg for food. In 1950, mother Teresa found a group called “Missionaries of Charity” within the Catholic Church. Mother Teresa described the “Missionaries of Charity” as an organization takes care of the hungry, the naked, the homeless and generally those who are in need of help.
Mother Teresa is an example and an inspiration to me. Her act of kindness helps me to build my confidence and make my planes of the future come true. Her senses of purpose is the same as mine because it motivates me and derives me towards a satisfying future as a result of helping the needy and those who are suffering with poverty. She exhibits the same qualities that I wish to achieve, because of mother Teresa a lot of people got help. The homeless got a shelter, the hungry was fed and the sad was filled with love. I wish to show the same act, love and kinds as mother Teresa showed the world.
