An Argument Against the Affirmative Action in Universities

Our society today is heavily focused on higher education because everyone knows that  anyone who goes to Harvard or MIT or any other school of the the like will be a millionaire by the time he’s 25. This belief that’s been ingrained in us is actually beneficial. It encourages our nation’s youth to study and work hard because their mommies and daddies tell them that if they don’t go to a top 20 school, they’re going to be deadbeats for the rest of their lives. However, many of these students cannot see the fruits of their labors because there is a plague rampaging through our country. Too many students with perfect test scores and perfect GPAs are being denied from schools because the schools want “diversity” and apparently are okay with sacrificing the more qualified future of our country to accomplish it. Now any sensible person can see that this is completely and utterly illogical. I don’t know why this system is in place when a perfectly good alternative was already implemented in our society. I cannot see a reason why modern society frowns upon separate but equal facilities and I propose, for the future of our nation, that we reimplement this system back into our institutions of higher learning.

The inherent problem of affirmative action is that there are so many brilliant minds that are denied their future because some people believe that giving below average African Americans admission top schools somehow atones for our previous sins of slavery. Of course, slavery was a horrible thing of the past. But is unfairly punishing the intelligence of our society really the way to apologize for it? If we reimplement separate but equal facilities, minorities will still have access to the resources of these top schools at no extra cost to the white and Asian population. Imagine a new Harvard. Imagine a Harvard with multiple undergraduate colleges – one for each skin color of the rainbow. Harvard College of Asians. Harvard College of African Americans. Harvard College of Caucasians. Harvard College of Hispanics. If we implement this system, affirmative action will no longer hinder the intelligent minds of whites and Asians.

Let’s dispel the myth that diversity is a good thing. Wouldn’t people of any color want to spend their time with people of their own culture? As an Asian minority, I know I would. I have a Korean friend who goes to a pretty prestigious university and he only spends his time with other Koreans, but he could not be happier. When one is around someone of his own culture, he feels more comfortable and his best is brought out. In addition, diversity also discourages intellectual growth. Think about it. The US is consistently ranked low in comparison to other first world countries in youth intelligence. This is obviously correlated with the fact that the US is one of the most diverse countries in the world. Why are Asian countries like Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan all consistently ranked as having the smartest students? It’s obvious that because everyone in those countries are Asian, each student’s best is brought out. If those countries were not as monoracial as they are, they would not be nearly as intelligent because diversity breeds stupidity.

Now I know that this system is not perfect, and I know it may not appeal to everyone, but I implore you to consider how this system could benefit our country’s intelligence. You know you can trust my judgement on this topic because, coming from an Asian country, I am far more intelligent than any of you stupid Americans. Thank you for your consideration.
