A History of The Civil Rights Movement As One of The Most Important Social Movements of The 20Th Century

The civil rights movement was one of the most important social movements of the twentieth century. Black churches at the time of the civil rights movement were very powerful bases for African Americans. Many important figures for the black churches or the community in general to name some are Martin Luther King Jr and James Meredith. James Meredith was bom on June 25,1933 in Kosciusko, Mississippi and he was the first black to enroll in an all white university of Mississippi on October 1, 1962 and conceived and led the 1966 “Meredith Mississippi march against fear” which was successful in a way as it rose awareness for social injustice and racial order in the state of Mississippi. Unfortunately, a white gunman shot him on the second day. In other good news, Stokley Carmicheal, the new chairman of SNCC, Introduced Black Power. This led to the rise of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was born on January 15, 1929 and he was an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights movement. In the year 1955 he led the Montgomery Bus boycott and helped found the Southern Christian leadership conference in 1957, serving as its first president. In October 14,1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolence. King was unfortunately assassinated on April 4 in Memphis, Tennessee.

The civil rights movement was pretty much summed up to a very revolutionary movement that destroyed the racial barrier between all us and led us to become the “melting pot of the world. The melting pot of the world pretty much sums us up to be a pot of soup or whatever you fancy with many different races or ingredients which make us up as a country. My opinion and output on the effects of civil rights movement is that I’m very grateful because without the sacrifices of MLK I’d be segregated and probably not in college right now trying to better myself.

The black church was a very powerful base for the civil rights movement and today there are very many black churches and my girlfriend always takes me to her church, which is one. I usually like to think about the civil rights movement and segregation when I usually go to places that are very populated with another demographic. So, when we go to her church I sit there and look around and try to appreciate everything that’s happened to lead me to the current place. It’s amazing to know that there are no racial barriers or anything. That’s enough about my personal experience now let’s get into the real Nitti and writty information.

In the late 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s, the Black Church functioned as the institutional center for Black mobilization. The most infamous example of racist American church destruction occurred on September 15, 1963.

In Conclusion I’d like to end this essay with these thoughts of mine about the topic and that’s people have changed over time and I’m glad racism is no longer a HUGE problem in this world and It’s slowly going away and away.
