My name is Albert Williams I am of the Third Estate, many of you may be wondering what exactly the “Third Estate” is so here it goes, the Third Estate is the French bourgeoisie and working class that went on before the French Revolution. I and my people of the Third Estate were treated like complete pigs. As I already explained to you we were the lowest class people that there was we, were the slaves of that era and our lives were not at all the easiest. Here i’ll explain to you some events that went on during this horrific time period, as being classified as the lowest class people in society the higher class people did give 2 heads about us we would work for hours and hours to the point where it felt like my feet we going to fall off. Also not to mention that we would get paid but when it came time to pay for taxes all of our hard earned money was swiped from us and the higher class didn’t even care being they were all living lavishly without a care in the world.
As you would expect me and my people also known as the Third Estate just got so sick and tired of living like this we decided that there needed to be a change and we had to do something to stick up for each other. We decided this around the summer of 1789 and by this time france was moving extremely quickly towards a revolution. During the year of 1789 and the beginning of summer the people later called this era the “Storming Of The Bastille”, because this dramatic action signaled the very beginning out the French Revolution. King Louis the 16th the ruler of our land of course wasn’t really such a great king. He did not care about us Third Estate people, he did not care that he would take all of our money and leave us with nothing as most of the higher class people would. King Louis the 16th was overthrown and thousands of people were executed including Him and his wife Marie Antoinette. On July 14th there was a huge crowd armed with muskets, swords, and various makeshift weapons surrounding around the Bastille. The capture of the Bastille symbolized the end of the ancient regime and provided the French Revolutionary cause with an irresistible momentum.
The Storming Of The Bastille impacted me in a way that a sense of relief was let off because we were finally getting our point across that the way everyone was treating us wasn’t fare. After this major accomplishment to the Third Estate of course, everyone came together and decided that our leader wasn’t a fit king for any of us and we had an agreement to execute him in order to get our point across even more and to be quite honest with you he really didn’t even want to be a king according to his actions. Our economy spiraled out of control, crops failed, and the price of bread and other food sources was almost impossible for us to afford. Let’s just say no one was satisfied during this time and we had to definitely fix this too. In July of the following year the mobs of paris stormed the hated prison at the Bastille. As you could imagine there was blood, dead bodies, weapons, and intruders everywhere. The people of Paris decided to kill all of the Third Estate people who were locked up and couldn’t defend themselves.
As and a result to that issue on top of that the mob forced the imprisonment of king Louis the 16Th and his family. As any normal person would be thinking to themselves right now would be “King Louis the 16th just let these people take him and his family without any fight” to answer that question no he did not, in 1792 the king attempted to escape but was captured and returned back to paris. The execution of Louis the 16th cause a whole bunch of new events to happen and due to that in 1792, the newly elected national convention declared France and the republic brought Louis to trial for crimes against the people. This trial did not last very long for all of us to decide that his time was up and he was due to get executed. January 20th 1793 the national convention condemned Louis the 16th to death, and his execution was scheduled for the following day. It is now January 21st, 1793 and today is the day the king is scheduled to get executed everyone was there just waiting for them to bring the king out this process lasted only about two hours.
The Kings executed impacted the people in a great way because this horrible ruler was now dead and we were all hopeful that we would get a better ruler finally. Finally our new king Maximilien Robespierre! King Robespierre called for the execution of King Louis the 16th to be put on trial for treason and won. All was going well until he felt that because he was a ruler he was entitled to do what he wanted, he encouraged the execution, mostly by guillotine, more than 17,000 enemies of the revolution were killed. Robespierre’s way of thinking was that if he suspected anyone of talking badly of him or anything like that even if it wasn’t true he would kill them. He liked to take advantage of being a ruler and at the time he could do whatever he wanted even if it wasn’t fare. This time was a very confusing era to live in and wasn’t a great one to live in either. The End…
