Homelessness Is a Major Issue in The Usa

We all have accidents, get sick, or even accidentally end up pregnant every once and a while. But, the real question is are we able to afford the costs that comes with these things? Providing free healthcare for lower class Americans would help make their lives much easier. Everyone should be entitled to free basic medical help and first aid no matter if they are rich or not.

About 50.1 percent of Americans live in a lower-class household. Homelessness is a major issue in the United States that does not get much light shown to it. In 2016 there were over 500,000 people homeless. The average cost to live in a one-bedroom apartment ranges from about $500-$1,200. This does not even include the cost of buying food, clothes, shoes, and paying the monthly bills. The cost to visit a doctor for a person without health insurance is about $200. Everyone should have the right to live a healthy life. Making someone pay to get checked by a doctor should not cost that much especially when they are included in the lower class. For example: if one is sick and cannot pay for both their bills, other necessities, plus the doctor’s visit; this can result in their medical condition worsening and maybe eventually lead to death. If the government were to provide for a simple visit it could prevent this from happening.

Do you ever think about the cost to have a child? Many people probably did not even know that when a woman goes to the hospital to give birth its going to cost them over $1,000 for their stay. It is said that the U.S hospital deliveries cost about $3,000 per stay. Allowing women to have normal birth deliveries will help save them money because they will still spend tons of money for baby necessities such as baby food, milk, diapers, and clothes. Pregnancies are also things that can happen on accident due to rape, assaults, or even if it was just unplanned. If a pregnant woman were working at McDonalds making $7.25 an hour that would be nowhere near enough to be able to afford for the birth of her child and to still have a place to stay at.

Gun violence is a serious issue in America that has yet to be solved. Every day 96 Americans are killed with guns and hundreds more are shot and injured. A new study in the journal Health Affairs finds that hospitals charge gunshot victims anywhere from $5,000 on average up to $100,000. Charging someone for something they were not responsible for isn’t fair to them. This may not be basic your medical help, but it will for sure help ones that have accidents and don’t have the money to pay for it. Others may just disagree with the idea of free medical help because it would mean the government has to pay and maybe even decline the economy of the country, but it could still help the hundreds and thousands of Americans who cannot afford it.
